The midi birdfish differs from the classic guitar only by the piezo-bridge and the midi control box. Therefore each birdfish classic can be upgraded to a midi birdfish.

The concept of the midi set is the complete separation of both signals, i.e. midi to converter and magnetic pickups to amplifier. That means the pure birdfish is not influenced by the midi converter. The 13 pin jack is the only carrier of sound on the piezo bridge. The magnetic pickups and the magnetic control circuit are connected to the 1/4" jack only. This becomes very important if you have high-gain sounds.

The foundation of the MIDI guitar is a Tune-o-matic bridge in conjunction with piezo saddles from RMC and a MIDI controller. The RMC controller is mounted in the control box.

The midi birdfish can be controlled by a volume knob and a tone knob for the magnetic pickups, a volume knob for the Synthesizer and a volume knob for the acoustic sound. On the control box there are two push-button switches which control the channel selection of the MIDI converter (up – down).

On the bridge there is a string rest made of ebony. It optimizes the pressure of the strings on the piezo crystals and prevents string-to-string crosstalk by dampening the strings between the tuners and the bridge. This provides a faster tracking.

Magnetic pickups and midi sounds remain separated. Therefore the guitar has two jacks: one 1/4" jack for the analog signal and a Roland 13 pin jack for the midi signal and the piezo signal.

If you already own a birdfish you can easily upgrade it with the midi control box and the midi bridge .
